Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry took part Sunday in the meeting of the Committee of the African Heads of States and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC) held on the sidelines of the 35th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly convening in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

The minister asserted in his speech that Egypt is keen on voicing the concerns and aspirations of the African continent during COP 27 it is hosting in Sharm El Sheikh in November.

Shokry added that the past few years are an embodiment of the severe impact of climate change on Africa, in spite of its very subtle contribution to the phenomenon. In that context, the minister pointed out to the small amount of funding directed to developing countries to combat climate change as well as their limited access to the necessary technology.
