La féminisation de l’épidémie du VIH/SIDA en légère croissance au Togo depuis 2000

La féminisation de l’épidémie du Vih/Sida connaît une légère croissance depuis 2000, indique un rapport du Programme national de lutte contre le Sida et les infections sexuellement transmissibles (Pnls-Ist) rendu public cette semaine à Lomé.

Selon le Pnls, sur 38 731 personnes dépistées du 30 novembre au 04 décembre 2015 dans le cadre de la célébration de la 28ème Journée mondiale de lutte contre le Sida, «les résultats n’ont été positifs que chez 430 personnes dont 63% sont des femmes».

«Ce pourcentage vient confirmer l’enquête démographique et de santé de 2014 qui révèle que la féminisation de l’épidémie du Vih/Sida connaît une légère croissance depuis 2000 avec un ratio de prévalence qui est passé de 1,39 en 2000 à 1,44 en 2012. Les femmes représentent environ 65% de la population séropositive», précise le rapport.

Il indique en outre que les femmes dont l’âge se situe entre 25 et 34 ans sont les plus touchées par le Vih. Par ailleurs, il souligne qu’en ce qui concerne les hommes, les sujets les plus contaminés ont entre 35 et 49 ans.
