Reports coming Yenagoa, South-south Nigeria confirm that another oil spill has occured at Taylor Creek field.
The current oil and gas leakage is coming from an underwater gas pipeline beneath Taylor Creek at Kalaba community, Okordia Clan, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa.
The Italian energy firm, Eni, has swiftly linked the spill to an underwater gas leak from an oil field operated by Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) in Kalaba, Bayelsa State.
Eni, the parent company of NAOC, which made the confirmation said it had shut down the oil well producing about 120 barrels of oil equivalent of daily feeding to the leaking pipeline.
Residents of the community are however not impressed with the response ENI/AGIP as the spill has already affected the only source of potable water in the community
“I can confirm that since the 21st of February 21st that we sent reports of a spill on the flow-line from the Taylor Creek to them, nothing has been done and our environment is the worse for it,” declared Chief Roman Orukari, the Paramount Ruler of Kalaba Community.
