L’Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS) a retiré vendredi le Nigeria de la liste des pays où la poliomyélite est considérée comme endémique, saluant ce “progrès historique” plus d’un an après le dernier cas signalé dans le pays africain le plus peuplé.

Cette nouvelle, annoncée dans un communiqué transmis à l’occasion d’une réunion de l’association spécialisée dans la lutte contre la maladie “Polio global eradication initiative” à New York, signifie que seuls deux pays restent sur cette liste, le Pakistan et l’Afghanistan.
