Séisme au Népal : le monde s’organise

Le Népal s’efforce dimanche de venir en aide aux victimes coincées sous les décombres de bâtiments détruits par le séisme qui a frappé la veille Katmandou et le centre du pays alors que l’aide internationale commence à s’organiser.

Selon un bilan encore provisoire dressé par le ministère de l’Intérieur, au moins 2150 personnes ont péri et plus de 5400 autres ont été blessées par la secousse d’une magnitude de 7,8, également ressentie sur les pentes du mont Everest où une avalanche a partiellement détruit le camp de base, faisant plusieurs morts.

Certaines zones montagneuses du Népal restent inaccessibles, les routes étant coupées, et le travail des secouristes est encore compliqué par le mauvais temps et les nombreuses répliques sismiques qui secouent le pays.

L’une d’elles, particulièrement forte, de magnitude 6,7, a été ressentie dimanche jusqu’à New Delhi, en Inde, et a déclenché des avalanches sur les pentes de l’Everest et des sommets voisins, ont rapporté des témoins et l’institut de veille géologique américain.
